Zhichun Lukas Liu
Assistant Professor of Learning Design and Implementation Sciences
at the University of Hong Kong
Hi I’m Lukas
I am an Assistant Professor of Learning Design and Implementation Sciences at the Faculty of Education, the University of Hong Kong. I received my Ph.D. degree in instructional systems and learning technologies from Florida State University. Prior to joining HKU, I worked at Kaput Center in University of Massachusetts Dartmouth as a postdoctoral fellow. I also worked at Teachers College, Columbia University as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Learning Analytics.
My current work aims at promoting the development and learning transfer of computational thinking among K-12 students and teachers. I focus on designing and developing active game-based learning experiences to facilitate learners’ knowledge acquisition and transferrable skill development through problem-solving. My research interests also include using quantitative analytics methods (e.g., Hidden Markov Model, Bayesian Network, sequential analysis, and social network analysis) to understand learners’ behavior, competence, discourse, and interactions.
